HOW WE SUPPORT LANGUAGE LEARNING
English as a Second Language (ESL)
For High School students who need extra language support, the ESP programme provides a structured path to improve English skills. With multiple proficiency levels available, students are guided by the Academic Office to progress steadily toward grade-level English.
English Learning Support
Students who need targeted assistance to access mainstream classes can join English Learning Support sessions. In Primary, Elementary, and Middle School, these are delivered as small group sessions pulled out from other classes. In High School and Secondary, support is provided during study periods. Each student works on the areas they need most, enabling them to participate fully in their mainstream lessons.
English Intensive Programme (EIP)
The EIP is a foundational programme for students entering SIS with low English proficiency, from Grade 3 through High school. Over 6–12 months, students receive intensive English instruction focused on all language skills, preparing them to transition successfully into mainstream classes. Interactive lessons and practical activities help students gain fluency, confidence, and the tools to thrive across subjects.
Across all levels, our focus is on empowering students: every learner is supported to become a confident communicator in English, to engage fully with their classes, and to enjoy a sense of belonging in the SIS community.
