SIS Sunway City KL (Canadian - Ontario)

The Canadian (Ontario) model aims to develop student’s knowledge and skills to become informed and active citizens in their own communities and in the world. As students progress on from Middle School, the High School Programme focuses on developing students’ knowledge and skills. In Grade 9 and 10, the focus is on building a strong academic foundation in diverse areas. In Grades 11 and 12, students get to select more specialised subjects to support their higher education pathway. The High School programme runs on a semester system with an emphasis on project based learning, assignments, field trips, independent research, group work and final examinations.

Students continue to be developed towards being self-directed learners who think critically and creatively, being well-rounded and globally aware indivisible through participation in a wide range of activities that include community service, students groups, athletics, academic-based clubs and field trips.

In Grades 11 and 12, students will undergo preparation for pre-university and university education. They will be guided on selecting more specialised subjects to support their higher or further education pathways. As part of the learning process, students will develop research, communication, organisational and analytical skills.

Pathways after Grade 11

Upon completion of Grade 11, students will advance to the Ontario Grade 12 or the Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP). Successful completion of the Grade 12 programme leads to the award of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This certification allows students to pursue higher learning and is widely recognised by universities around the world. Alternative Pathways & Seamless Progression To IBDP

Upon completing Grade 10, students may transition from the Canadian Programme into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). For students seeking an accelerated and well-prepared route, the IBXpress Pathway offers a structured progression beginning in Grade 9, strengthening critical thinking, inquiry, and communication skills — the core foundations of the IBDP.

Through enriched coursework and advanced course selections, guided preparation, and growing familiarity with IBDP expectations, students build the confidence and competencies needed to advance smoothly from the OSSD from Canadian programme to IBDP.

Beyond academics, students are also guided and evaluated in essential soft skills such as responsibility, independence, collaboration, and self-regulation, fostering both intellectual and personal growth. The KICA Framework emphasises on knowledge inquiry, communication and application, this ensures that all our students are empowered to reach their fullest potential.
