David Swanson has been a passionate educator for over 16 years in South Korea. He finds teaching young learners the most rewarding, focusing on the importance of social and emotional learning. Having a double M.Ed. in Teaching English Learners and Early Education, he is especially skilled with ELLs, kindergarten, and young students.
April Van Dodewaard graduated from Trent University with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Mathematics. She also completed a Bachelor of Education at Queen's University, specializing in Mathematics and Physics, with an additional qualification in Social Science. Prior to teaching at SIS, she taught at an international school in the Caribbean for 2 years and a private school in Toronto, Canada for 1 year. Ms. April has been teaching at SIS since 2019.
Waheeda Darus holds a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design & Digital Media, specializing in Advertising, from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam. With over 14 years of experience in the creative industry, she has worked as a visual designer in advertising agencies and as a freelance graphic designer before transitioning into education. For the past 8 years, Waheeda has taught Art & Design at prestigious international schools in Malaysia.
Milagrita Shin is an accomplished educator, she holds an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Birmingham with distinction. She also possesses a BA from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) and teaching certification from Moreland University (USA). With over 18 years of experience in English Language Learning, Mila has honed her skills in diverse international environments such as Malaysia, South Korea, and Vietnam.
Hello! My name is Ms. Shannon and I am an Ontario certified teacher with over 24 years of elementary classroom teaching experience, primarily in Kindergarten to Grade 3. I have an Honours B.A. in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of Education from University of Western Ontario, and hold an Ontario Teacher's Certificate in the Primary/Junior division. I also have additional qualifications in Special Education and Kindergarten, and acquired TEFL Certificate from the University of Toronto.
Coming from Birmingham in the UK, Ashfaq holds a Bsc Honours in Human Psychology from Aston University in Birmingham, and he completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at the University of Birmingham.
Ashfaq began his teaching career at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Castle Bromwich, UK after which he moved to Tokyo, Japan where he spent 11 years teaching English in Junior High schools.
Patrick Ackermann holds a Master in International Education from Australia's Monash University and a Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Trinity College, London.
Langley Geldenhuis is a dedicated educator with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Nelson Mandela University (NMU). He is also currently pursuing a master's degree in advance teaching to further his expertise. With nine years of teaching experience across South Africa, South Korea, and Malaysia, Langley brings a global perspective to his classrooms.
Reem El Ramly holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. She has taught English and Psychology in Canada, Egypt and Oman. Her teaching philosophy centers on the idea that each student is unique, and it is her role to support them in reaching their full potential. She is excited to join us as the Library Teacher.
Subatra Muthusamy holds a Bachelor of Education (Hons) and a Master of Education specializing in English Language Teaching from the Northern University of Malaysia. Ms. Subatra has been teaching English for more than 15 years. Prior to SIS, she has taught pre-University studies in a local institution and also pre-graduate courses for teachers. Ms Subatra teaches EIP, ESL, ELS under Ontario High School at SIS.
