ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Canadian (Ontario) Grade 7 / Cambridge Year 8

The award of scholarship takes the form of a 25% waiver on tuition fees only; it is not a cash award.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Admissions or progression into Grade 7(Ontario) or Year 8 (Cambridge) Programme.
  • Must be enrolled and accepted as a full-time student at Sunway International Schools.
  • Open to Malaysians and International students.
  • Must have good record of discipline and conduct.
  • Must have obtained minimum 6As or 80% in the following subjects in Grade 6 (Ontario) / Year 7 (Cambridge) / equivalent final schooling results:
English
(Comprehension and Writing)
Mathematics
Science
3 other subjects
only one (1) second language may be counted
  • All documents relevant to the scholarship must be endorsed by parents and/or relevant authorities

The award of scholarship takes the form of a 25% or 100% waiver on tuition fee only. This is not a cash award. There is a quota for the number of recipients for this scholarship. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Admissions or progression into Year 10 Cambridge Programme.
  • Must be enrolled and accepted as a full-time student at Sunway International Schools.
  • Open to Malaysians and International students.
  • Must have good record of discipline and conduct.
  • Must have obtained minimum 6As or 80% in at least 6 subjects in Year 9 final school results for 25% waiver in tuition fee or obtained a minimum of 9As or 80% in at least 9 subjects in Year 9 final school results for 100% waiver in tuition fee.  
    • English (only First Language will be eligible for 100% waiver consideration)
    • Mathematics;
    • Science
    • 3 or 6 other subjects (only 1 second language will be taken into consideration)
  • Must achieve a minumum score of 125 in both verbal reasoning (English proficiency) and Quantitative Reasoning (Mathematics) in CAT4 assessment in order to be eligible for 100% waiver in tuition fees.
  • Candidates are required to attend an interview and write a personal essay (at least one page long) on why you deserve this scholarship.
  • All documents relevant to the scholarship must be verified by relevant authorities.

Submit the Scholarship Application Form with:

  • Certified true copies of academic results (latest year-end results)
  • Letter of recommendation from current/previous principal confirming good behaviour

Application Deadline:
1st December for the following January intake.

Interviews may be required. Late applications are not accepted.

MUSIC & SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is awarded in the form of tuition fees waiver only and is not a cash award. 

  • Malaysian and International citizens aged 12 to 18 years and enrolled and accepted as full-time students at Sunway International Schools.
  • Must have achieved minimum average of 70% for recent results and have good record of discipline and conduct.
  • Must furnish supporting documents and/or reference materials from state / national Sports Association / Federation as evidence of achievements, and all documents relevant to the scholarship must be verified by relevant authorities.
  • Candidates are required to attend an interview and write a personal essay (at least one page long) on why you deserve the scholarship. 
     

  • Must have obtained Grade 5 certification by international examination board such as RockSchool, ABRSM, Trinity, or other qualifications deemed acceptable by SIS Scholarship Committee. 
  • Minimum 2 years experience in local and international musical exposures, participating in at least 1 competition and 1 performance per year. 

  • Applicable to sports affiliated with the Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM). For sports not affiliated with MSSM, must have won at a competition deemed equivalent and acceptable by the SIS Scholarship Committee to be considered for a 25% waiver.
  • Local students: Must have won at district / state level to qualify for 25% waiver; Must have won at international level to qualify for 50% waiver.
  • International students: Must have won at state level to be eligible for a 25% waiver.

Submit:

  • CV (academic & extracurricular achievements)
  • Music: certificates / proof of musical exposure
  • Sports: references supporting sports achievements
  • Two recommendation letters:
    • Music instructor / Sports coach
    • Former school principal
  • Personal essay (at least 1 page), covering:
    • Why you deserve the scholarship
    • Your goals as musician/athlete
    • Your plans after SIS

Deadlines:

  • 1st December for January intake
  • 1st June for July intake

Applicants must complete the respective Scholarship Application Form and submit it along with the following documents to the SIS Admissions and Administration Office by the deadlines indicated below:

  • Certified true copies of academic results
  • A copy of Identity Card / Passport
  • School Leaving Certificate or Testimonials

  • Letter of recommendation from former school’s principal

    To certify that this student has a good behaviour record, having not come under school-wide disciplinary action during his/her school years.

  • Scholarship application closing date: 1st December for subsequent January intake

Applicants may be required to attend an interview with the School Scholarship Committee. Application received after the closing date will not be accepted.

Family Bursary

Bursary is awarded to:

  • Children of alumna/alumnus, OR
  • Siblings (subsequently enrolled children)

5% tuition fee discount
Parent/guardian must have completed at least 1 academic year at:

  • Sunway University
  • Sunway College
  • Sunway International Schools

  • 5% discount: second enrolled child
  • 10% discount: third child
  • 15% discount: fourth child onwards

Sibling must either:

  • Be currently studying in SIS / Sunway College / Sunway University, OR
  • Have completed at least 1 academic year

(Financial course students must be registered for at least 3 papers per semester)

  • Applies only to tuition fees (not registration, exam, or other fees)
  • For subsequent enrolments only
  • Final approval rests with SIS Admissions Office
  • If students receive other discounts, bursary is applied on remaining balance, not full fee
