With a Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology, Stephanie has an innate inclination in education, discovering that teaching brings a deeper purpose to life. After graduation, she entered the education field, developing my skills and knowledge through hands-on experience. Starting as a teaching assistant, she gradually transitioned to a subject teacher, focusing on Mandarin for primary students over the past four years.
Valene Govender joins Sunway International School as a Senior Kindergarten homeroom teacher. She is from South Africa and has experience teaching in Brunei.
Wan Munirah holds a degree in Education with a major in Malay Literature and a minor in History from the University of Science Malaysia. She also earned a Master of Arts, specializing in Malay Literature, from the same institution. With over 16 years of experience teaching Malay Language at international schools, she has developed a deep understanding of diverse educational environments and student needs. In addition to her teaching role, she worked as a consultant for a publishing house that produces Malay language books for primary and international schools.
Christel Jones holds a Bachelor of Education form the University of Free State, South Africa, QTS and Early Years Professional Status from Reading University, UK and an Advanced Diploma in Special Needs Education from the College of Allied Educatos, Singapore. She has 30 years of teaching experience that spans across the UK, China, Czech Republic and Malaysia (Johor Bahru). These diverse experiences have equipped her with a deep understanding of different educational systems and cultural contexts.
Lenore Herter attended the University of Saskatchewan where she earned a Bachelor of Education. She has taught Kindergarten to Grade 2 but has spent the last 7 years in Special Education. She has been an educator in Japan, Italy and Germany. Her passions include hiking, photography and travelling.
Michelle Speck graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Physical Education. She completed her education degree at Canisius College in New York State, USA specializing in Elementary Education. She holds a specialist certification in Health and Physical Education. Before joining SIS, Ms. Speck spent 10 years in elementary education primarily teaching Grade 4 as well as 3 years as a Health and Physical Education teacher to middle and high school students at various private schools in Ontario, Canada.
Siti Hajar Khadhijah completed her bachelor's degree from Kuala Lumpur University College (KLMU). Currently, she is pursuing a Master in Education majoring in Educational Psychology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Siti Hajar has more than 7 years of teaching experience in several international schools in Malaysia for primary and secondary school students. She joins SIS in January 2023 and is currently teaching Bahasa Malaysia / Malay as a Foreign Language.
Lai Ming Wei holds a Degree in Education, major in Early Childhood Education. She has 4 years of experiences working with children aged between 1- 12 years old. Focusing on language teaching (mandarin, english), and social- behavioral management.
She believes that children's social and emotional development is crucial, and effective learning can only take place when they feel secure in their school environment. She strives to create a classroom that serves as a safe space for students to express their feelings and be themselves.
Fathin holds a degree in Malay Studies (Malay Language) from the University of Malaya (UM) and holds a Master of Arts in Malay Studies, also from the same university. With over five years of experience in the field of education, she has taught both national and international syllabus. Her diverse teaching background includes various educational settings, enhancing her ability to adapt to different learning environments and student needs. She believes in creating an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere that fosters a love for the Malay language and culture.
