Bringing a diverse professional background and a passion for education, Ferial Essa joins the Cambridge programme at SISKL. With a PGCE from Liverpool John Moores University, UK, she transitioned from a career in Human Resources to teaching in 2018, driven by a desire to foster young minds' growth and development. Her teaching experience spans Early Years and Primary Education, including several years teaching in China until 2022 before relocating to Malaysia. I am dedicated to creating enriching and inclusive learning environments where students thrive academically and personally.

Divya Rao received her Master of Science in Biomolecular and Biomedical Science from Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland. She completed her PGCEi from the University of Nottingham and holds a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology. With a research background, she has also served as a Scientist and held various research-based roles in pharmaceutical and R&D organizations in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and India, amassing 14 years of overall experience in teaching and research.

Ciaran McGowan holds a BA Honours in Humanities from the University of Ulster and a PGCE in Secondary History from the University of Wales Swansea. He has been teaching since the year 2000, starting his career with teaching in the UK. In 2004, he moved to Kyiv and since then, he has taught in international schools around the world in Egypt, Romania, Russia and at several other schools in Malaysia. He has extensive experience in teaching Humanities subjects such as History, Geography and Business Studies.

Peris Ngaruiya has a Bachelor of Education with a major in English and Literature from Mount Kenya University, Kenya. She has almost a decade of classroom teaching experience and has done her fair share of homeroom tutoring too.  Before joining SIS, Peris taught at several international schools in Kenya. Her specializations include Global Perspectives, English Language, and English Literature. She believes that teaching and learning extends beyond textbooks and it should be fun and stress-free for her students.

Shan Subramaniam graduated from Chares Stuart University Australia with a Masters In Business Administration. He also completed a Bachelor in Economics with an additional qualification in Human Resource Management from Universiti Malaya. Prior to joining at SIS, he taught at International schools in Malaysia for 12 years and 1 year in Singapore for IGCSE, A-Level, and IB business and economics subjects.

Nasir's journey into teaching began during his Diploma in Electronic Engineering. While working part-time at a local cinema, he rose from customer service to Human Resource Administrator, discovering the joy of training and mentoring staff. This three-year adventure highlighted the transformative power of passion and patience in education. Witnessing young adults struggle due to educational gaps ignited a calling within Nasir. He pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Education, leading to roles at two International Schools in Malaysia and one in Mongolia.

Isolde Steyn joins the SIS community as an IGCSE ESL Teacher. With over 20 years of teaching experience spanning diverse international landscapes such as Brunei, Kazakhstan, and South Africa, She has honed her skills through various teaching and leadership roles, guiding students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. She holds a Master’s in Advanced Teaching and a teaching qualification in IBDP from the USA, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Education from South Africa, along with additional certifications in IGCSE teaching.

Rachel Chua is a passionate Mandarin teacher with 14 years of experience, specializing in secondary education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Linguistics from University Malaya, a Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) from Central China Normal University in Wuhan, China and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (PGDT) from Open University Malaysia. She has taught across Cambridge IGCSE, A-Level, IB DP/MYP, HSK, and SPM, helping students from diverse backgrounds excel in Mandarin.
