A New Look for Sunway International Schools

SIS Unveils

The past two years were challenging for the world and there is no exception for the education sector. Schools, teachers, students and relevant parties continue to work closely to ensure minimal learning disruption due to remote studying.

To continue providing quality Canadian education to the future nation builders, Sunway Education Group has invested in a new seven-acre GreenRE Platinum-certified Sunway International School (SIS) Sunway City KL campus, which will be open in 2023.

The new high-tech campus can accommodate up to 3,000 students and will commence programmes for Kindergarten, Primary School (Grades 1-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-11) according to the Canadian (Ontario) curriculum and Pre-University (Grades 11 & 12) according to International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

With the opening of a new campus, Sunway International Schools are introducing a new school logo by embracing the Coat of Arms used by Sunway University and Sunway College, in conjunction with the SIS campus in Kuala Lumpur approaching its 15th year and the 5th anniversary of the Iskandar Puteri campus.

In line with the achievements of Sunway University – a top 2% university in the world ranked in the QS World University Rankings, and Sunway College – a 6-star rated private college in the Malaysian Quality Evaluation System (MyQuest), SIS share the aims to provide quality education for students’ holistic development and to produce creative and intellectually critical individuals and responsible global citizens.

“We believe adopting the same logo across Sunway University, College and schools will inspire students towards higher education. We trust this move will encourage students to set strong goals to study at Sunway College and Sunway University as well as other established institutions of higher learning,” said Dr Cheng Mien Wee, the Executive Director of Sunway International Schools.

The Sunway’s Coat of Arms carries specific meanings and symbolisms which augur well for SIS students to visualise their future successes. Sunway’s motto ‘Fortuna Erudites Favet’ in Latin also translates to ‘fortune favours the prepared mind’. It expresses the view that chanced discoveries or successes happen with a knowledgeable and ready mind.

Embracing the same logo for Sunway University, Sunway College Kuala Lumpur and Sunway International Schools reveal how the education group gives equal attention and importance to education and learning across all levels, from kindergarten to doctoral studies.

This move reflects the heart of Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah AO, Founding Trustee of the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation, who continually contributes to society through quality education. SIS trust that people will see this bold adoption of the same values for Sunway international schools, Sunway College and Sunway University as another unique testimony of Tan Sri Cheah’s progressive views and roles in education.

SIS also unveiled the new SIS website with a new URL (sunwayschools.edu.my). The new website provides SIS with a fresh and modern navigating experience, reflecting the school’s direction and identity, consistent with its growth and impact on education.

In tandem with the schools’ new logo and website, SIS is also looking towards a fresh look for its school uniform for 2023 and beyond. This will be achieved through pooling creative ideas from the school community via a uniform design competition, which will be launched in early March 2022. Dr Cheng said, “The uniform competition will be opened to SIS students from both campuses, parents and staff. We look forward to receive many creative submissions and there will be cash prizes up for grabs too!”

Enrolment for the new SIS KL campus has begun and SIS is offering inaugural bursaries for 2023 intakes. The bursaries for kindergarten and primary school (Grades 1 – 5) is RM 15,000 for enrolments by June 2022, and RM 10,000 for enrolments by December 2022. Middle School, High School and Pre-University enrolments by December 2022 will also enjoy a bursary of RM 3,000.
