Isabelle Cottenden
Isabelle Conttenden received a Bachelor of Arts from Nice University majoring in Linguistics and has a Master’s in English (Language and Literature). She got her teaching qualification in the UK and has been teaching Languages for 34 years. She has taught in independent and state schools in the UK as teacher and Head of Spanish till 2006. She then moved to Saudi Arabia as Head of Modern Languages for 3 years and 1 year in Qatar. Later on, she taught French and Spanish in Bahrain and India. She is passionate about critical and creative thinking and has spoken at many international conferences and runs workshops on conflict resolution and critical thinking. She has spoken in Japan, Egypt, Sweden, Russia, Slovakia and UK. She is the Director of India and Malaysia for the Theory of Constraints for Education organisation (USA), as a volunteer. Recently, she has written a handbook on “How To Integrate Critical thinking in IB schools”. She has been helping NGOs in the education sector, for the past 30 years. She looks forward to developing the application of thinking skills by using my own experience and connections. Her in-school workshops have had a great impact on students and staff which resulted in more interaction and trust in the classroom, where students are more engaged and feel valued.
