Angela Lepien is an educator from the Pacific Northwest region of Washington, United States, who has spent the past 10 years teaching at various international schools in Japan.

Her passion for teaching began when she was warmly welcomed by her 5th grade teacher as a shy new student transitioning from an international school in South Korea. This experience inspired her commitment to creating a classroom environment where students feel at home—warm, welcomed, and accepted. She adopts a holistic approach to education and believes that learning should be engaging, enjoyable, and immersive.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus on Language, Literacy, and Cultural Studies, along with a double minor in ELL/TESOL. In addition to her passion for cultures and languages, she enjoys visiting local bookstores and libraries, as well as exploring new places to eat and relax.

She is delighted to join the SIS community and looks forward to contributing her multicultural background, enthusiasm for learning, and positive energy to both students and staff.
