Elementary Chinese New Year Week

In a vibrant celebration of culture and tradition, our Elementary friends commemorated Chinese New Year with a week-long extravaganza. Packed with entertaining activities to foster deeper ties with one’s roots and culture, the young learners immersed themselves in the rich customs of the festivity and learned about its significance. Brimming with excitement, students participated in a variety of activities tailored to embrace the spirit of the occasion. From crafting traditional Chinese lanterns to mastering the art of calligraphy, each activity fostered a sense of appreciation for the Chinese culture and its age-old traditions and customs passed down through generations. Through this engaging experience, the students not only celebrated a cultural festival, but also embraced the values of diversity, unity, and respect for different traditions. The ever-lively and festive week was wrapped up with newfound knowledge as well as hearts filled with fond memories.

Students had a go at authentic Chinese calligraphy – assisted by our amazing teachers!

Everyone brought out their artistic sides as creativity flourished in the classrooms through arts and craft activities.

Majestic dragons were drawn and coloured, CNY lanterns and firecrackers were made, beautiful Chinese-inspired fans were folded, and many more!

To take the festive feel up a notch, some of our students came adorned in their beautiful and unique traditional outfits. Over at the kindergarten side, our young peers got to try out some well-loved CNY snacks and cookies. Look at those bright smiles after receiving some angpaos!

The festive season gives us an excuse to put up fun and vibrant decorations to cultivate the perfect atmosphere and safe to say, our talented students went all out. Check out the stunning results!

What would CNY be without those familiar and catchy tunes and melodies of iconic as well as fresh CNY songs, now with addictive dance moves too?

Apart from channelling their creative sides and getting physical through entertaining dance routines, students also had to put on their thinking caps during the Lucky Bingo and Word Jumble activities.

Everyone joined in on the fun together while also prioritising their health in this massive group Taichi session. What an energetic and engaging crowd!

Even our teachers couldn’t help but test their calligraphy skills – how do you think they did?
